Lighting Workshop at Smash Photo Studio, Monday Nov. 23, 2009

An Introduction to Studio Lighting, a 2 hour basic lighting workshop covering some easy to use lighting techniques using professional studio equipment. This class will be the taught by professional instructors; Bill Schutt/Smash Photo, Dave Fieling/Dave Fieling Photography, and David Griffin/David Griffin Photography

Topics to be discussed
NEW! – Using small battery powered flashes, aka: speedlight, hot-shoe flash, or STROBIST techniques.
- Constant lighting and strobe lighting
- Light modifier [softboxes, umbrellas, and more]
- Reading a light meter
- White Balance
and a few other random bits of useful information

By the end of the workshop you will have some basic studio lighting information and will be able to shoot away with confidence.

CEO Andrea White-Kjoss - Bikestation.com

Recently we had Andréa White-Kjoss, President & CEO of Bikestation a Mobis Transportation Alternatives Company, in our studio for a quick Corporate Portrait Photography Session. Bikestation, headquartered here in Long Beach, provides bicycle commuters what I think is a great idea in service. We wish Andréa and Bikestation much continued success.

Thank you Andréa & Bob, her Dad, who was in town at the time whos great personality added to the shoot too.

Just happen to have a couple of HS senior shoots and they were both named Christina/Kristina. Although the names are similar each shoot was definitely unique and fun.

Daniel contacted us with an urgent need for a new corporate photo. Luckily we had an opening and he was in our studio the next day. Due to a very tight deadline we had to also provide proofing and finished product in as little time as possible. We use an online proofing solution; Daniel was able to select his favorite images from the shoot and we provided some minimal retouching to enhance the images. In just 2 days we had a finished portrait that Daniel was very happy with.

We want to congratulate Daniel M. Stekol on his new position at IRWA and wish him the very best in all he accomplishes.

Alyssa recently came by our studio for a set of headshots and some publicity photos. We are excited that she liked the photos so much that she actually used one in a contest she entered.

Great headshot session in the studio with an aspiring teen actress named Bridgette. Mom was so happy with the photo shoot that she had a hard time narrowing the selection down to just a couple of shots for reproduction. That is always a nice compliment. Thanks Bridgette and good luck in the business.
